A large fire has erupted at the Lebedev Institute of Precision Mechanics and Computer Engineering in Moscow, covering an area of 1,500 square meters, according to the Russian Telegram channel SHOT.

The fire started on February 19 at the institute’s building on Varshavskoe Highway.

Currently, according to SHOT, there is open burning in an area of 1500 square meters.

The blaze continues to spread, causing the roof to collapse. There are also reports of a potential gas cylinder explosion. No casualties have been reported so far.

The Lebedev Institute of Precision Mechanics and Computer Engineering is a Russian scientific organization under the Russian Academy of Sciences. Previously a federal institution, it was transformed into a joint-stock company in 2009 and has been under the supervision of Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade since 2008.
