Finland allocated financial aid to Ukraine: Fields to spend money on announced
Finland will provide 3 million euros in aid to improve food security in Ukraine, according to the Finnish government.
Funding will support the transportation of grain from Ukraine to countries whose food security is affected by the consequences of Russia's aggressive war.
Part of the funds will be directed towards demining Ukrainian rural areas to restore agricultural production.
Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Skinnari stated that Finland contributes to restoring food security and economic activity by supporting the recovery of Ukraine's agricultural sector in war-affected regions.
Demining in Ukraine
Finland supports demining in Ukraine. According to estimates, up to a third of Ukraine's agricultural land is contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance. Thousands of farms and rural households have been forced to reduce or completely stop their production activities.
To address this issue, the UN World Food Programme and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization have launched a project in Ukraine that combines demining, humanitarian assistance, and development cooperation.
Finland's assistance to Ukraine
Finland provides Ukraine with defense and humanitarian assistance following the start of full-scale military aggression by Russia.
Yesterday, it was reported that the Finnish government submitted its proposal to the parliament to amend the 2024 budget project. It includes an increase in aid to Ukraine.
Recently, Finland approved allocating the 20th package of military aid to Ukraine.
