According to the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the state budget of Ukraine has received a grant of $1.25 billion from the United States of America through the Targeted Fund of many donors of the World Bank.

According to the Ministry's information, the grant is provided as part of the fifth additional financing within the project "Support of State Expenditures to Ensure Sustainable Public Governance in Ukraine" (PEACE in Ukraine).

The project aims to partially compensate for state budget expenditures, particularly social and humanitarian ones not related to security and defense.

The received grant funding will be directed towards reimbursing state budget expenditures, including salaries for government employees and payments for specific state social assistance programs (for veterans, disabled individuals, low-income families, housing and utilities subsidies), and other social payments.

"The non-repayable financial assistance from the USA is an extremely crucial element in supporting Ukraine's state budget during the resistance to full-scale Russian aggression. This new grant will help the government cover priority expenses in the social and humanitarian sphere," said Ukraine's Minister of Finance, Serhiy Marchenko.

The Ministry of Finance also reminded that in 2023, Ukraine has already received $8.45 billion in direct budgetary support grants from the USA. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine's state budget has received $20.4 billion in grant funds from the United States.
