Fatal accident with National Guardsman in Kyiv: Judge Tandyr to face trial
Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office submits indictment to the court for Judge Oleksii Tandyr, who fatally hit a National Guard serviceman in a drunk-driving car crash.
According to the investigation, on May 25, Tandyr was drunk driving a Lexus ES350 and significantly exceeding the permissible speed limit. He crashed into a National Guard soldier who was stationed at a checkpoint in Kyiv. As a result of the accident, the National Guardsman died on the spot.
Currently, the indictment in the criminal case has been transferred to the Sviatoshynskyi District Court of Kyiv City for consideration on the merits.
The ex-judge faces up to 10 years of imprisonment with a prohibition on driving vehicles for a period of up to 10 years.
Fatal traffic accident
During the night of May 26, Tandyr, the head of the Makariv District Court in Kyiv Region, struck a 23-year-old National Guard soldier named Vadym Bondarenko near a checkpoint in Kyiv. The soldier died on the scene from the injuries.
According to the investigation, Tandyr was drunk driving. He was formally charged and later arrested.
Following this incident, the High Council of Justice temporarily suspended Tandyr from performing his duties as a judge.
