Manchester United's Harry Maguire has been named the Premier League's Player of the Month for November, recognizing his exceptional performances in recent matches. This award marks a significant turnaround in his career at Manchester United.
Maguire played a pivotal role in Manchester United's three consecutive league wins in November, including a clean sheet in each game against Fulham, Luton Town, and Everton. His contribution was especially notable in assisting Scott McTominay's goal against Chelsea.
Having regained his position in the starting lineup under Erik ten Hag, Maguire's consistent performances have been crucial in re-establishing his importance to the team. His professionalism and attitude have been widely praised following a challenging period last season where his future at Old Trafford seemed uncertain.
Maguire, expressing gratitude for the award on his Instagram, acknowledged the support of his teammates, staff, and fans. He won the award against contenders like Thomas Kaminski, Marcus Tavernier, Anthony Gordon, Raheem Sterling, and Jeremy Doku, becoming the first defender since Liverpool's Joel Matip in February 2022 and the third Manchester United defender, to win this accolade, following Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
Maguire's football journey
Harry Maguire began his professional football career at Sheffield United, making his first-team debut in 2011. In 2014, he moved to Hull City, later spending time on loan at Wigan Athletic. Maguire joined Leicester City in 2017, where he developed into one of the Premier League's leading defenders.
His impressive performances earned him a move to Manchester United in 2019 for a reported £80 million, making him the world's most expensive defender at the time. Maguire has been a key player at Manchester United and was named club captain in January 2020. He has also been a regular member of the England national team since making his debut in 2017.
