Attack on Kazan
On the morning of December 21, unidentified drones were spotted in Kazan. One of them crashed into a high-rise building in an elite residential complex. Russian officials reported a total of eight drone "strikes."
Due to the drone threat, operations at several airports in Russia were restricted, including those in Kazan, Izhevsk, and Saratov.
Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, stated that Kazan is home to a large gunpowder plant specializing in the production of explosives, rocket fuels, and other components for the Russian military.
The Kazan Gunpowder Plant supplies materials necessary for the production of missiles, including Kalibr, Iskander, and others.
Media outlets also suggest that potential targets of the drones may have included Military Unit 58661 and the airfield of the aviation plant.
