Explosions reported near port in Berdiansk
Explosions were heard near the port in Berdiansk on January 29. Local occupation authorities reported a drone attack and a fire, claiming it was successfully extinguished, according to the Berdiansk Military Administration.
"Explosions were heard near the port in Berdiansk," the statement reads.
In the evening, residents observed drone activity and explosions in the port area.
"The statement from the gauleiter (occupation authorities - ed.) in the Zaporizhzhia region mentions at least three drones, which were allegedly shot down," the Administration added.
Additionally, a fire was reported on the territory of the port, which was allegedly promptly localized without any consequences for the main activities of the enterprise.
Explosions in Berdiansk
Russian forces seized Berdiansk in Zaporizhzhia region in February 2022. Since then, the city has been used as a base to concentrate troops and equipment to support Russian military operations in Ukraine.
The city has frequently experienced explosions, as Ukrainian defense forces have repeatedly targeted Russian facilities in Berdiansk, including the port. Notably, a strike on the port was reported in November 2024.
On October 31, explosions were also heard in Berdiansk, with drone attacks reported. It resulted in power outages and smoke rising over the port area.
