On the night of Thursday, July 3, explosions were heard in Odesa as the city came under attack by Russian strike drones, according to the channel of Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov and the Ukrainian Air Force.

Around 2:30 AM Kyiv time, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the movement of strike drones over southern Ukraine. By 2:52 AM, it was confirmed that the drones were heading toward Odesa.

At the same time, Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov wrote that the city was under attack by drones.

"Odesa, please stay in safe places," he urged.

At 3:15 AM Kyiv time, Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, confirmed that Odesa had been attacked by Russian strike drones.

Despite the active work of air defense, civilian infrastructure was damaged, including residential buildings.

"Information on casualties is being clarified. All authorized services are working to eliminate the consequences," Kiper noted.

Trukhanov clarified that residential buildings were damaged as a result of the attack. He said that emergency headquarters and municipal services were working at the scene, and that information about casualties was still being verified.

Night drone attack

On the evening of Wednesday, July 2, the Russian army once again launched several groups of strike drones over Ukrainian territory. Air raid alerts were issued in multiple regions.

On the night of June 28, Russian forces attacked Odesa with kamikaze drones.

One Shahed drone hit a high-rise residential building. As a result, several people were killed, and others were hospitalized.
