Explosions reported in Kyiv
Explosions have been reported in Kyiv. The air defense system is in operation, according to the Mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko.
"Explosions in the city. Air defense system is in operation. Do not leave shelters!" wrote the mayor.
Reaction of the American embassy
The U.S. Ambassador Bridget Brink has responded to the explosions in the capital. She noted on Twitter (X) that air raid sirens have been sounding since 5:00 a.m. in Kyiv and throughout Ukraine today.
"By 6:15 a.m. we could hear the air defense working in the capital - thank you, brave air defenders! - underscoring once again the urgent need to support Ukraine now," she wrote.
Massive shelling of Ukraine
On Thursday, February 15, around 2:00 a.m. Kyiv time, six Tu-95 strategic bombers took off from the Olenya airfield in the Murmansk region. Later, another aircraft joined them.
Around 5:00 a.m., air raid sirens were announced in several regions, which later spread across the entire territory of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Air Force reported the launch of Kalibr missiles by the Russian army from the Black Sea.
It should be noted that around midnight, the invaders launched missiles at Chuhuiv in the Kharkiv region. A woman was reported killed.
