Explosions in Crimea - Russian Ministry of Defense announces the downing of 19 drones
Numerous explosions on the territory of temporarily occupied Ukrainian Crimea last night. The Russian Ministry of Defense explains this as drone attacks and the operation of air defense systems, which allegedly destroyed nearly two dozen drones in the sky over the peninsula, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense's Telegram channel.
Additionally, the aggressor country's ministry claims that drone attacks were also detected in three regions of Russia: Belgorod, Kursk, and Oryol.
As usual, the Russian ministry accused Ukraine of these drone sorties and asserted the supposed "cessation of the attack."
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a total of 23 drones were shot down.
"Using air defense systems, 19 Ukrainian UAVs over the Black Sea and the territory of the 'Republic of Crimea' were destroyed. Additionally, one drone each over the territories of Kursk, Belgorod, and Oryol regions," the report stated.
What proceeded this
Around midnight on September 21, reports of numerous explosions and a purported "mass drone attack" emerged in various areas of the occupied Crimea.
Local residents posted online about explosions near the aerodrome in Novofedorivka, where gunfire was also heard. Similar reports came from Yevpatoriya, Saky, Sevastopol in the areas of Kozacha and Kamysheva bays, Chornomorske, Mykolayiv, and more.
Claims were made about the operation of air defense systems. Oleg Kryuchkov, a representative of the occupation "administration" and advisor to the so-called "head of Crimea," limited his statement to acknowledging the operation of air defense systems around 2 a.m. and promised to provide further details later.
Prior to this, explosions occurred in the occupied Crimea in the morning of September 20. At that time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a command post of the Russian Federation near the occupied Sevastopol, successfully striking the command post of the Black Sea Fleet occupiers near Verkhnyosadove.
