Explosions were heard in Kyiv on the morning of August 17 during an air raid alert. The alert was issued due to enemy strike drones detected in the region.

Explosions were heard in the vicinity of the capital at approximately 07:16. It is likely that they occurred on the outskirts or outside the city.

Earlier, the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the movement of Shahed drones towards Brovary.

"UAVs in the Kyiv region are moving towards Brovary," the military stated in a report at 07:07.

There are speculations online that the explosions could be linked to the activities of air defense systems.

Local authorities have yet to make any statements regarding the explosions.

Shahed attack

It was previously reported that from Friday evening until Saturday morning, Russian strike drones were detected in the skies over Ukraine. Overnight, air defense systems were also active in the Kyiv region.

The Shahed drones were notably detected in the Kyiv region for an extended period, moving erratically, as noted by the Air Force.

Additionally, an air raid alert was issued in Kyiv early in the morning due to the movement of enemy Shahed drones near the capital.
