Explosions heard in Kyiv amid aerial, air raid alert declared
In Kyiv, an air raid alert was declared in the early hours of October 2. Moments later, an explosion was heard in the capital. Air defense forces and systems are actively operating in the city, according to RBC-Ukraine correspondent and the Kyiv City Military Administration.
The air raid siren warning of an enemy aerial threat sounded in Kyiv around 4:54 a.m.
Residents were urged to immediately proceed to shelters and remain in safe locations until the air raid alert was lifted.
Around the same time, an explosion was heard in the vicinity of the city.
"The air raid alert is ongoing! Air defense systems are active in the capital. Stay in shelters until the alert is over!" announced Kyiv City Military Administration head Serhii Popko.
Enemy drones shot down in the region
Later, at 5:24 a.m., it was reported that air defenses had also repelled an enemy air attack over the Kyiv region.
"Drones have been detected in the airspace. Air defense forces are engaging targets," the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported on Telegram.
The administration also urged residents to maintain information silence, prioritize their safety, and stay in shelters until the alert is lifted.
