Explosions were heard in Kharkiv and Chuhuiv as Russian Shahed attack drones targeted the area.

The attacks were reported by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, and the mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov.

At 00:13 AM Kyiv time, Oleh Syniehubov reported a hostile drone over Kharkiv. Minutes later, an explosion was heard in the city.

"Explosion in Kharkiv. The consequences of the attack are being clarified," he said at 00:17 AM Kyiv time.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed at 00:19 AM Kyiv time that a presumed Shahed drone struck the Shevchenkivskyi district.

Meanwhile, another explosion was reported in the city of Chuhuiv, according to Suspilne. At 00:42 AM Kyiv time, a second explosion occurred there.

The Ukrainian Air Force warned of drone movements toward Chuhuiv, Balakliia, and Slobozhanske.

Russian strikes

Earlier in the evening of August 2, Russian forces launched Shahed drones across Ukraine. By 11:29 PM Kyiv time, the military had tracked several drone groups heading toward Kolomak and Slobozhanske in the Kharkiv region.

The strikes follow a previous Kh-22 missile attack on Mykolaiv, which caused widespread destruction, casualties, and fires. Power outages were also reported in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.
