Explosion near Kyiv claims life of Ukrainian top general aide
In the Kyiv region, an explosion of a grenade resulted in the death of Hennadii Chastiakov, an assistant to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, according to the National Police's post on Telegram.
Sources of RBC-Ukraine within law enforcement agencies report that the deceased, Hennadii Chastiakov, worked as an assistant to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi.
According to law enforcement officials, the tragedy occurred in a residential complex in the village of Chaiky in the Kyiv region. Upon receiving a report of the grenade explosion, the police promptly arrived at the scene.
As a result of the grenade explosion, a 39-year-old serviceman was killed, and his 13-year-old son sustained severe injuries.
Currently, the police are working at the scene, and a criminal investigation has been initiated regarding the loss of life and the illegal handling of ammunition.
