Experts reveal best way to get rid of belly fat
Many people who are losing weight want to get rid of fat in the abdominal area. Unfortunately, it's impossible to get rid of fat in just one desired area. It has been proven that excess fat around the belly increases the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes, according to the British Heart Foundation.
How to get rid of belly fat
The body stores fat in the form of triglycerides, which are used as fuel throughout your body, not just in the exercised area.
Engaging in aerobic exercises and maintaining a healthy diet are the best ways to reduce belly fat and overall body fat. This helps create a calorie deficit (when you burn more calories than you consume), which contributes to fat loss over time.
Aerobic exercises include any activity that increases your heart rate, such as walking, dancing, running, or swimming.
It can also include household chores, gardening, and playing with children. Other types of exercises, such as strength training, Pilates, and yoga, can also help you get rid of belly fat.
How much to exercise
The National Health Service recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity per week.
Aim to exercise at a level where you are slightly out of breath but can still speak in full sentences. Make time for a warm-up before and a cool-down after your workout. If you start to feel more breathless, slow down and have a rest.
If you’re new to exercising, start slowly and gradually build up. You don’t have to do high-intensity exercises to burn calories. Stress and lack of sleep can also affect fat loss, as they may lead to increased levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which affects appetite.
Stress-reducing measures and promoting good sleep may include mindfulness, breathing techniques, and gentle exercises, such as yoga.
