In Kharkiv, nearly the entire city lost power on the evening of November 8. Streets plunged into darkness, and residents reported extremely low voltage in the electrical network, reports RBC-Ukraine correspondent.
Power is out in most districts of Kharkiv. In areas where electricity is still available, lights are flickering strongly. Residents posted about the low voltage on city channels and public forums.
Some districts are also experiencing water supply disruptions. Emergency services are on site, working to resolve the problems.
Kharkiv authorities have not yet commented on the situation. Residents are urged to call the city emergency number 1562 only for truly urgent issues, as phone networks may be overloaded with calls.
Russian attacks and power outages
On the night of November 8, Russian forces launched massive attacks across Ukraine, striking energy infrastructure and residential areas. Power outages were reported in multiple regions.
The attacks also caused all Centrenergo thermal power plants to stop operating, and they are currently not generating electricity. This includes the Trypillia TPP in Kyiv region and the Zmiiv TPP in the Kharkiv region. The Zmiiv plant supplies electricity to the regional capital, directly linking the blackout to the Russian attack that disabled the plant.
