Pet hair easily sticks to clothes, but you can get rid of it in just a few minutes. There is a simple method that doesn't require any special tools and will help you quickly restore your clothes to a neat appearance, according to the Good Housekeeping website.

How to remove pet hair from clothes

If pet hair on your clothes annoys you, try a simple hack using dryer sheets. Place your clothes in the dryer, add one or two dryer sheets, and run it on a no-heat or low-heat cycle for about 10–15 minutes.

The sheets reduce static electricity, making it easier for hair to separate from the fabric and get trapped in the lint filter. After that, clean the filter.

If you don't have a dryer, simply wipe your clothes with a dry dryer sheet before going out. It will help remove some hair and reduce the static electricity that makes hair cling tightly to the fabric.

For best results, follow up with a lint roller or a damp rubber glove. This will help you quickly remove even fine hair, and your clothes will look neat and clean.

What to do to prevent hair from sticking to clothes

Use anti-static spray. An anti-static spray for clothes or fabric softener during washing reduces static electricity, which causes hair to stick.

Choose appropriate fabrics. Hair clings more to fleece, wool, corduroy, and velvet. On smooth fabrics (such as nylon or smooth-surface polyester), it sticks less.

Store clean clothes separately. Keep them in a closed wardrobe or garment bags to prevent hair from settling on them.

Use a lint roller. A sticky roller or reusable silicone brush quickly removes hair before you go out.

Clean your home more often. Vacuum furniture, carpets, and your pet's bedding so hair doesn't transfer onto your clothes.

If hair has already stuck and you don't have a roller on hand, try:

  • A slightly damp rubber glove;
  • A damp microfiber cloth;
  • Wide adhesive tape.
