In his speech at the 2025 Munich Security Conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Western leaders who frequently engage with US President Donald Trump to take a strong stance on Europe.

"Even those who regularly come to Mar-a-Lago need to be a part of a strong Europe," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

He was referring to the Mar-a-Lago resort estate on a barrier island in Palm Beach, Florida, which serves as the private residence of US President Donald Trump.

Zelenskyy emphasized that despite potential grievances with Brussels' policies, European leaders must recognize that internal divisions only benefit Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Explaining his stance, Zelenskyy noted that Trump "doesn't like weak friends, he respects strength."

"Some in Europe may be frustrated with Brussels. But let's be clear - if not Brussels, then Moscow. It's your decision," the Ukrainian president stressed.

Earlier, during his speech at the Munich Security Conference, President Zelenskyy stated that in light of the Russian threat, Europe needs its own armed forces. He emphasized that the time to establish them has already come.
