Democrats have secured majorities in both chambers of the US Congress. They have already won enough seats to take control of the House of Representatives and hold an advantage over Republicans in the Senate, according to CNN.
According to the network, Democrats have secured 224 seats in the House of Representatives. They needed at least 218 to win a majority. CNN's tally shows Republicans with 128 seats.
The map also shows 27 seats that have changed party control. Vote counting is still underway.
Democrats also hold a majority in the Senate, with 53 seats compared with 42 for Republicans.
As RBC-Ukraine previously reported, Democrats flipped six Senate seats previously held by Republicans.
These include Texas, Kansas, and South Carolina, where Democrats had not won in decades.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump acknowledged the midterm election results and pledged to work with Democrats.
At the same time, he said Republicans would have won by a landslide if his name had been on the ballot.
