Russian troops are attacking crossings on the Oskil River, complicating the evacuation of Kupiansk and other nearby settlements in the Kharkiv region, according to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.

According to him, it is necessary to evacuate 9,000 people from the settlements in the Kupiansk direction, of which more than 4,800 reside in the settlements of the Kupiansk community.

The priority for evacuation is the left bank of the Oskil River, where over 2,700 civilians remain.

"The situation is complicated by the fact that the Russians are targeting the crossings, making it impossible to ensure the restoration of critical infrastructure in that area," Syniehubov added.

He noted that Russian strikes on the crossings over the Oskil were recorded yesterday, October 22. Currently, Ukraine is working on restoring logistical connections.

Evacuation from Kupiansk

On October 15, Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, announced that the authorities of Kharkiv region decided to evacuate residents from three communities, including Kupiansk.

Syniehubov explained this necessity by stating that the left bank of the Oskil River might lack electricity, water, and heating supply.
