More than a thousand civilians remain in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. Their evacuation is nearly impossible due to active fighting, states Dmytro Petlin, a representative of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.

"According to data provided by local authorities, there are currently 1,800 people in the Pokrovsk community, and 1,200 civilians in the city of Pokrovsk itself," Petlin said.

He noted that evacuating them from the city is practically impossible due to the severe situation there.

Fighting in Pokrovsk

The Russian army has deployed its main forces to capture Pokrovsk. They approached the city closely from the south and are infiltrating inside.

The Russian troops are also trying to disrupt Ukrainian logistics and cut off important routes.

The Skhid military grouping reported on November 4 that Ukrainian soldiers continue to eliminate Russian troops inside Pokrovsk. At the same time, there is no encirclement of the city.

Today, November 5, the press service of the 425th Skelia Separate Assault Regiment reported that the unit’s fighters managed to drive Russian forces out of the Pokrovsk city council building. The enemy suffered losses and retreated.

On November 3, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that about one-third of all combat clashes on the front are taking place in Pokrovsk.

According to him, half of the aerial bombs that the Russian forces launch in a single day hit Pokrovsk.

Recently, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced the continuation of a Ukrainian counteroffensive operation near Dobropillia. This disperses the occupiers’ attention and pressure on Pokrovsk.
