European intel predicts potential Russian assault on NATO within months

European intelligence officials acknowledge the possibility of Russia testing NATO's resolve in the near future - with one of them stating that a potential attack could occur in months, not years, according to The Guardian.
Concerns have risen after Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated in parliament that, according to intelligence assessments, Russia could use drones or missiles against NATO territory in the coming months to prove that Article 5 is more theoretical than practical. French President Macron called these warnings justified and convened an emergency meeting of party leaders in Paris.
Michal Koudelka, head of the Czech Security Information Service (BIS), admits that the Kremlin may plan a limited incursion into the territory of a NATO country near Russia - through false flag provocations or a large-scale information campaign. According to him, such a scenario is possible in months, not years, although many parties are doing everything to avoid it.
The Baltic countries, despite bordering Russia, assess the situation more cautiously - they point to Moscow's war-exhausted resources and warn that excessive hype about the threat plays into the Kremlin's hands. Normunds Mežviets, head of the Latvian State Security Service (VDD), stated that he sees no direct signs of an imminent attack, although Moscow is clearly preparing for more decisive actions.
The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs publicly criticized the panic on social media in recent days, calling for calm and continued support for Ukraine.
According to Koudelka, the Kremlin's goal is to pressure the weak points of Western societies to reduce support for Ukraine: if the pressure is strong enough, Europeans will allegedly refuse to help Kyiv.
All three intelligence chiefs agree: Russia's sabotage campaign in Europe is likely to intensify in the coming months. Nilsson called the recent incident with an attack drone at Leipzig Airport a turning point. Mežviets added that Moscow is moving from chaotic arson attacks to specific targets related to support for Ukraine - in particular, railways and the defense industry.
NATO had previously stated its readiness for any provocations and attacks by Russia - an alliance general emphasized that NATO is ready to respond to potential escalation on Europe's eastern flank.
Furthermore, Lithuania recently announced receiving intelligence regarding Russia's possible preparation of false flag operations to test NATO's readiness to respond.
Russian special services have also intensified hybrid attacks on European infrastructure that provides aid to Ukraine; Poland emphasized that the Kremlin's main goal remains the destabilization of railways, bridges, and border zones.
