The 2025/26 European football club season has come to an end after a rich campaign full of surprises. In most countries, either new or reigning champions have been crowned, who will represent their associations in European competitions next year.

Triumphs and surprises

In the Ukrainian Premier League, Shakhtar Donetsk defended its status as the strongest team in the country, winning its 16th championship title in history. Ukraine’s association currently ranks 23rd in the UEFA coefficient table.

Outside Ukraine, the main event in the top leagues was the long-awaited triumph of Arsenal London, who claimed their 14th English championship title for the first time in 22 years. In Italy, Inter Milan secured their 21st Scudetto, while Bayern Munich won its record 35th title in Germany. In Spain, Barcelona emerged as champions for the 29th time.

Alongside established giants, this season also brought Europe entirely new debut champions who reached the top of their domestic leagues for the first time in history. These include Swiss club Thun, Swedish side Mjällby, Azerbaijani Sabah, Lithuanian Kauno Žalgiris, and Luxembourg’s Atert.
