Europe's best athlete race heats up as Ukraine's Mahuchikh gets second nomination

Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh was nominated for the best European athlete for the second time by European Athletics. The winner will be determined by votes from fans, federations, and experts, according to the official European Athletics website.
Bright season for Mahuchikh
This season, Yaroslava won bronze medals at both the outdoor and indoor World Championships, silver in the Diamond League final, and her third consecutive gold at the European Indoor Championships.
Moreover, the Ukrainian athlete won the high jump event in the first division at the Team Euro-2025 in Madrid.

Among the contenders for the European Athlete of the Year award are well-known European athletes:

Voting and winner announcement
Fan voting is open on the official European Athletics website. The winner's name will be announced at the Golden Tracks ceremony on October 25.
In 2024, Mahuchikh already won the award, ahead of Dutch athlete Femke Bol and British athlete Keely Hodgkinson.
