Europe holds talks with US on increasing pressure on Putin

Europe is holding talks with the United States on how to further increase pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul during a meeting with Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský, according to Ceske Noviny.
According to Wadephul, Europe is engaged in dialogue with the United States on how to further intensify pressure on Putin.
He also emphasized that Ukraine's future lies in the EU and NATO.
"We agreed that we will never accept Russian aggression. Every night, Putin rains down new attacks on Ukrainian cities — with drones and missiles. This clearly shows that the Russian president is not interested in peace," said the German Foreign Minister.
According to him, the war is aimed not only against Ukraine but also against the European peace and security order.
Trump reluctant to impose sanctions on Russia
Recently, three Democratic senators — Jeanne Shaheen, Elizabeth Warren, and Chris Coons — announced the launch of an investigation into the actions of Donald Trump's administration. The US president has been accused of failing to impose any new sanctions on Russia for over five months, despite its ongoing war against Ukraine.
Meanwhile, a bill has been pending in the US Senate that proposes tough new measures against Russia. Specifically, it includes 500% tariffs on any country that continues to purchase Russian oil and other goods. The bill enjoys overwhelming bipartisan support — with 84 out of 100 senators backing it.
Valerii Klochok, head of the Center for Public Analytics Vezha, noted that President Trump is unlikely to seriously pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin before the start of autumn. He also stated that no swift decisions regarding pressure on Russia should be expected from the Trump administration.
