EU summons Russian ambassador after attack on European diplomat in Vladivostok

In Vladivostok, Russia, a European diplomat was attacked. The European Union summons the Russian ambassador for explanations, according to The Guardian.
According to the EU spokesperson Anitta Hipper, the European Union summoned the Russian ambassador in Brussels for explanations after the attack on the official in the city of Vladivostok last month.
“We condemn any violence against EU diplomats. They must be able to carry out their duties free from fear and intimidation. The safety of our staff is paramount, and we will continue to review the protection of our diplomatic staff,” the EU spokesperson stated.
Attack on the EU diplomat
As is known, a European diplomat was attacked in Vladivostok on May 26. The name of the official, citizenship, and state of health are not being disclosed.
However, the German publication Der Spiegel reported that the victim was a Romanian female diplomat who came to the Russian city on official business.
According to media reports, the woman was attacked after she left the hotel for a morning walk. A car stopped near her, from which two men got out. They threatened her and then beat her.
The German outlet, citing EU diplomatic sources, reports that the men allegedly work for the Russian special services.
