The European Commission will present a report on the progress of aspiring countries, including Ukraine and Moldova, on Wednesday, October 30, without providing them with official recommendations for advancing their EU membership process, informs the Financial Times.

According to sources, the commission's report will note the progress of several countries, including Ukraine and Moldova, without offering them official recommendations for advancing the EU accession process.

It is noted that despite their susceptibility to conflicts, Ukraine and Moldova are making the most significant progress toward EU membership.

The European Commission will also not recommend specific actions regarding Georgia. Its official representative urged the authorities in Tbilisi to "swiftly, transparently and independently investigate electoral irregularities," adding that EU member states should seek solutions to this situation.

Ukraine's EU accession

On June 25, Ukraine officially began negotiations for EU membership. This decision was supported by the leaders of the member states at the end of 2023.

Now, Ukraine must implement reforms to meet EU membership criteria.

The EU Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarína Mathernová, noted that Ukraine could join the European Union faster than other countries. However, in her opinion, a realistic date for membership is only 2030.
