European Commissioner Andrius Kubilius mocked Russian President Vladimir Putin after the statements made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Kubilius suggested that Putin is not the real ruler of Russia, but rather a puppet of Lavrov, according to a post by Kubilius.

"Who is the real boss in Kremlin: Putin or Lavrov? How can anybody negotiate anything with Putin, if after the meeting of Putin and Trump, Lavrov publicly denies everything that Putin has promised to Trump in the bilateral meeting? Maybe Putin is not the real boss in Kremlin?" the European Commissioner wrote in response to statements made by the Russian Foreign Minister.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Ukraine’s security guarantees should be provided "on an equal basis" by countries such as China, the United States, the United Kingdom, and France. However, according to Lavrov, without Russia’s participation, this would be "a road to nowhere."

A statement by Lavrov that Russia, China, and the United States could serve as guarantors of Ukraine’s security has effectively derailed Moscow’s negotiations with Washington.
