EU leaders to hold emergency defense summit in March

In early March, on the 6th, the leaders of the European Union will gather for an extraordinary summit. They will discuss the situation in Ukraine and European defense, stated the President of the European Council António Costa.
He emphasized that now is a crucial moment for Ukraine and European security.
"I have decided to convene a special European Council on 6 March. We are living a defining moment for Ukraine and European security. In my consultations with European leaders, I’ve heard a shared commitment to meet those challenges at EU level: strengthening European Defence and contributing decisively to peace on our continent and long-term security of Ukraine," he wrote.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that tomorrow, February 24, on the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion, 13 leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, will arrive in Kyiv. According to Zelenskyy, he wants to discuss with his partners possible security guarantees at a separate meeting. It may take place in one of the European capitals.
