EU diplomacy head: Hungary will not jeopardize EU support for Ukraine
The blocking of further European assistance to Ukraine by Hungary will not undermine the unity of the EU, says the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
"I hope that European unity will not be disrupted because now is not the time to weaken our support for Ukraine; on the contrary, we should strengthen it," he said.
Borrell confirmed that this issue will be discussed by EU leaders at their summit in Brussels on Thursday and Friday.
EU leaders summit
On December 14 and 15, the summit of European Union leaders will take place. At this meeting, European leaders are expected to determine the prospects for the integration of Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia.
Previously it was reported that Hungary would block everything related to the support of Ukraine. Therefore, the summit may extend until December 16.
While in Argentina, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy briefly talked with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on the eve of the EU leaders' summit. According to the Ukrainian leader, the conversation was frank and concerned European affairs of the two states.
