EU countries to hold online meeting after Trump-Zelenskyy talks

EU member states will hold an online meeting tomorrow, August 19, to discuss today’s talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump at the White House, said European Council President António Costa, The Guardian reports.
"I have convened a video conference of the members of the European Council for tomorrow at 13.00 CEST, for a debriefing of today’s meetings in Washington DC about Ukraine," Costa said.
He noted that, together with the US, the EU will continue working toward achieving a lasting peace that "safeguards Ukraine’s and Europe’s vital security interests".
Zelenskyy-Trump meeting
Today, August 18, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will hold talks with Donald Trump at the White House. European leaders will join them later.
The parties are expected to discuss the terms of a peace agreement in detail, which the US President discussed with Putin the day before in Anchorage, Alaska, and determine the next steps toward achieving peace.
According to the BBC, US Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles will participate in the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting.

Ahead of the meeting, Zelenskyy already held talks with US Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, discussing the frontline situation and joint diplomatic opportunities for Ukraine, Europe, and the US.
