On October 7, European Union ambassadors agreed on new sanctions against Russia, reports Rikard Jozwiak, Europe correspondent for Radio Free Europe.

He said that EU ambassadors today gave the “green light” to new sanctions against 743 individuals and 826 organizations in Russia’s military-industrial complex.

The sanctions also target 77 individuals “elected” to Russia's State Duma from the occupied territories of Ukraine.

EU ambassadors also agreed to renew sanctions regarding Russia’s use of chemical weapons on the front lines. The list includes 31 individuals and 6 organizations.

Incidents involving drones and arson threats have become more frequent in NATO countries recently. Against this backdrop, the European Union is preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia, which includes approximately 1,600 individuals and entities.

EU Foreign Affairs Chief Kaja Kallas stated that in the coming months, the European Union intends to significantly expand sanctions against Russia. According to her, the most extensive sanctions package since the start of the war will be proposed this fall.

Bloomberg previously reported that more than 1,600 companies assisting Russia in the war against Ukraine could be subject to restrictions.
