EU accuses Russia of unprecedented influence on voting in Moldova
Moldovan voters have fallen victim to massive propaganda from the Russian Federation, significantly influencing the outcome of the country’s elections, according to EU foreign affairs spokesperson Peter Stano.
According to him, the EU closely monitored both the referendum and the presidential election in Moldova.
"We know that this vote took place under unprecedented interference and intimidation from Russia and its proxies, who sought to destabilize the democratic process in Moldova," Stano said.
He also said that attempts to buy votes and widespread propaganda by Russia and its proxies were recorded. Stano believes efforts to undermine the vote had been ongoing for months, well before October 20.
He mentioned that the EU would officially comment on the Moldovan elections once the final results are announced.
"After that, we will issue our official reaction," the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, Moldovan authorities reported that Russia allocated 100 million euros to destabilize the political situation in the country during the elections and referendum. How this could impact Moldova and the elections can be read in the RBC-Ukraine report.
It is also known that the second round of Moldova’s presidential election will take place in two weeks, on Sunday, November 3.
