Erdoğan and Fico advocate for just and lasting peace in Ukraine
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico met on Monday, January 20. During the talks, they agreed on the need to establish a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, according to a joint press conference following the meeting.
"Of course, we discussed the war in Ukraine, which is now affecting all of Europe... Before the conflict escalates, it is necessary to establish a fair and lasting peace in Ukraine," Erdoğan said.
According to him, he plans to maintain contact with elected US President Donald Trump to discuss the war in Ukraine and its resolution.
"Trump has previously said that he will end the Russia-Ukraine war. We, in Türkiye, are ready to do our part to end the war. I plan to raise this issue in my discussions with Trump," Erdoğan stated.
Possible negotiations between Russia and Ukraine
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly made statements about the war in Ukraine. According to him, he claimed that he plans to end the full-scale war in the country and promised to do so in the first 24 hours of his presidency.
