Ukraine expects the US to respond to the massive Russian shelling of Kherson. The enemy damaged energy facilities in the city, says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a press conference and the State Emergency Service.

According to the head of state, the US believes that the silence at sea and the energy truce are working. But in reality, as a result of Russian shelling today, March 27, energy infrastructure facilities in Kherson were damaged.

"This is how it works with the Russians. And therefore, in my opinion, if there was a violation today, and there were strikes on Kherson, strikes on the railway station, and electricity was damaged because there were hits on the energy sector — and in the civilian city of Kherson, which is not a battlefield — civilians lost access to energy. I believe there should be a reaction from the US,” Zelenskyy added.

The President noted that Ukraine clearly understands which targets Russia attacked and what was destroyed. Therefore, he instructed Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov, to prepare evidence of Russia’s strikes on the energy infrastructure.

“All of this will be prepared and handed over to the US, and after that, we expect a reaction from the US because they told us they would respond to violations,” the President said.

It’s worth noting that, according to the State Emergency Service, as a result of the Russian shelling of Kherson, a car, a garage, railroad ties along the tracks, and wood waste caught fire in the city center. A train carriage was also damaged by the fire. Two people were killed, and five others were injured.

Attack on Kherson

The Russian army heavily shelled Kherson today. The head of the city’s military administration, Roman Mrochko, reported that as a result of the attack, some residents lost power.

Additionally, trolleybus services were temporarily suspended in Kherson due to power issues.

This happened after Russia had promised to halt attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for 30 days.
