Elon Musk, the well-known head of Tesla and SpaceX, recently spoke about his morning routine. Contrary to expectations of an elite lifestyle, the billionaire prefers a fairly simple and nutritious meal.

Daily Star shares what Musk eats for breakfast.

Musk’s diet choice

During an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, he admitted he starts his day with a high-protein breakfast—steak and eggs.

According to the entrepreneur, he has eliminated bread from his breakfast. Musk believes carbohydrates are the cause of energy “swings.” At first, there is a sharp surge of energy, which is quickly followed by a feeling of exhaustion.

“We're all overrun with carbohydrates. Carbohydrates make this big crash – the rise and the crash,'' he said.

What dietitians say about this breakfast

Although nutritionists have different opinions about low-carbohydrate diets, the composition of Musk’s breakfast is indeed rich in beneficial nutrients.

Eggs

According to the UK National Health Service (NHS), eggs are one of the most nutritious foods. They contain protein, vitamins B12 and D, and minerals such as selenium and iodine. Eggs are also rich in choline, which, according to research by the US National Institutes of Health, has a positive effect on memory, cognitive function, and the nervous system.

Steak

Red meat is a source of high-quality protein, iron, and zinc. Iron is essential for oxygen transport, while vitamin B12 helps fight fatigue.

The British Nutrition Foundation notes that lean red meat can be part of a balanced diet if consumed in moderation.

In addition, scientific reviews published in the journal Nutrients confirm that high-protein breakfasts help people feel full for longer, which reduces the urge to snack during the day.
