Elon Musk’s SpaceX pumping $2 billion into Grok AI startup - WSJ

Elon Musk’s company SpaceX has agreed to invest $2 billion in his artificial intelligence firm xAI, according to The Wall Street Journal and Reuters.
The reports state that this investment makes up nearly half of the recently raised capital for the maker of the Grok chatbot (referring to a $5 billion funding round).
Reuters notes that the investment came after xAI merged with X, and the combined company is now valued at $113 billion.
It is also reported that the Grok chatbot currently supports Starlink and is expected to be integrated into Tesla Optimus robots in the future.
Despite recent disagreements over Grok’s responses, Musk has called it the smartest AI in the world. Meanwhile, xAI continues to invest heavily in model training and infrastructure.
Scandal involving the Grok chatbot
The Grok chatbot recently made controversial statements about Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust. Specifically, it praised Hitler and referred to the Holocaust as efficient.
In response, the company began implementing filtering measures. Meanwhile, Linda Yaccarino, CEO of the social media platform X, stepped down from her position following the scandal.
