X CEO Linda Yaccarino has resigned amid a scandal involving the Grok chatbot, which posted controversial statements about Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust, Yaccarino announced.

"After two incredible years, I've decided to step down as CEO of X. When Elon Musk and I first spoke of his vision for X, I knew it would be the opportunity of a lifetime to carry out the extraordinary mission of this company. I'm immensely grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App," Yaccarino said.

She added that she is proud of the X team, and that "the historic business turnaround we have accomplished together has been nothing short of remarkable."

Grok chatbot scandal

It was recently reported that the Grok chatbot with artificial intelligence, developed by Elon Musk's company xAI, published controversial statements about Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust.

The company xAI announced that it had taken measures to remove the inappropriate posts from the X platform.

The decision came after its AI chatbot Grok made a series of antisemitic remarks. The incident drew widespread condemnation, including from leading human rights organizations.

According to reports, some Grok posts praised Adolf Hitler and referred to the Holocaust as "efficient."

Earlier this year, Musk merged his artificial intelligence company xAI with his social media platform X. On July 4, he announced "significant" improvements to Grok, but did not specify what changes had been made.

In addition, Türkiye blocked access to the Grok chatbot due to offensive responses about President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
