Elon Musk's Neuralink successfully installs chip into human brain for first time
Neuralink, for the first time, successfully implanted a chip into the human brain. According to the company's founder, Elon Musk, the initial results reveal promising neural activity, stated in his Twitter (X) account.
The American billionaire revealed that the first person has received an implant from the brain chip startup Neuralink. According to initial data, the device's performance indicators appear promising.
Musk noted that the device allows control of a phone or computer and, through them, almost any device simply by using one's thoughts.
"Initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs. Imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal," stated Elon Musk.
What is known about Neuralink
Neuralink Corp is developing a brain implant aimed at assisting paralyzed individuals in walking again and treating other neurological disorders. Elon Musk also claims that with this chip, computers and smartphones can be used without the need for hands.
Initially, the device underwent testing on animals. Earlier, the media reported an investigation in the U.S. due to the deaths of at least 1500 animals during Neuralink's experiments.
However, this did not prevent Elon Musk's company from obtaining approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on December 26th to conduct tests of brain implants on humans.
