Easy way to get rid of pantry moths
Pantry moths are pests that devour grains and nuts in the kitchen. They can appear even in well-maintained, clean kitchens that are regularly cleaned, as they are often brought in with food products from the store.
Przyślij Przepis reveals some tips on how to get rid of these unwanted insects.
How to get rid of pantry moths in the kitchen?
Be sure to transfer bulk foods and cereals to tight, preferably glass jars, regularly wash and ventilate cabinets, create a draft in the kitchen. Moths hate that. Larvae also do not tolerate high temperatures.
If you suspect that moths may be multiplying in the cabinets, after washing the inside of the furniture, wipe it with a solution of vinegar and water or soapy water and dry it with a blow dryer.
You can also scald the washed shelves with a hot solution of vinegar and water to disinfect them.
Glass moth trap
Another way to destroy pantry moths is to use a trap. To make it, you can use apple cider vinegar (without any additives or flavored with a few drops of clove or lemon oil). Just pour a small amount into a bowl. Apple cider vinegar has a less intense odor than alcohol vinegar, but it is no less effective.
You can also make a trap from hamster food. Its smell attracts moth larvae. Divide the loose feed into portions and spread them in bags or paper packets. Place them in kitchen drawers and cabinets.
Besides strongly scented vinegar or hamster food, which not everyone has at home, there is another effective way.
Proven way to destroy pantry moths
Place a bowl with a small amount of dry red wine in the pantry. The sweet aroma of the drink will attract moths. Butterflies will definitely want to check out what these treats are and will fall into the bowl.
You can enhance the aroma of wine with lavender or eucalyptus essential oil, which will refresh the scent in the pantry. Also, for greater efficiency, you can add wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar to it.
The drink in the bowl will spoil, so replace it every few days with a fresh portion. You don't need much, and the wine doesn't have to be expensive. Leftovers that you haven't used for other purposes will also work.
