If you've got a carpet at home, stains on it are no surprise. Below are some tips on how to clean those stains easily, citing PrzyślijPrzepis.

What you need to know about carpet cleaning

The first rule of removing stains from a carpet is speed. The quicker you react and find a damp brush or sponge, the better. Dried stains penetrate deeply into the fabric and linger much longer, especially if they're from beets, wine, grease, or dishes heavily seasoned with turmeric or curry.

While it may not be as noticeable on carpets with thick pile, streaks and stains on short-pile carpets are visible from afar. Before cleaning the carpet (regardless of the method), vacuum or thoroughly shake it out. This will clear the field for action.

How to remove stains from a carpet

Carpet cleaning with a vinegar and water solution (ratio 1:2 - 1 cup vinegar to 2 cups water) is one of the best ones. Vinegar contains acetic acid, which helps dissolve dirt and lime scale not only on the carpet but also in the kitchen or bathroom.

Stains on the carpet can also be removed without vinegar. If you don't have it at home, take sauerkraut juice, pickling marinade from cucumbers or tomatoes (if it's not water from pickled beets). After fermentation, such brine contains valuable lactic acid, which tackles stains (even old ones), just like vinegar.

Dampen the stain with water, then squeeze out sauerkraut juice or pour water from pickled cucumbers onto the stain and distribute it with a sponge or brush, rubbing the juice into the carpet. Leave the mixture on for 25-30 minutes, then vacuum the stain.

How to get rid of unpleasant odors from the carpet

Using water from canned goods works, but some people may be concerned about the smell that appears during and immediately after removing the stain. To neutralize it faster, sprinkle the carpet with soda after cleaning it with pickle juice.

You can also sprinkle it with a few drops of lemon juice or any essential oil. Baking soda will also help remove any remaining dirt. Gently scrub the carpet with a brush and vacuum again.
