Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten said Europe must remain united at every level, including within the OSCE, to maximize pressure on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and force him to end the war, according to Ukrinform.

Jetten stressed that Ukraine is defending not only its own territory and citizens, but also peace across Europe and the rules-based international order, including the commitments made within the OSCE.

"Ukraine is also defending the international rules-based order, including the OSCE and the commitments we have all undertaken. That is why the Netherlands firmly supports Ukraine and will continue to do so. It is crucial that we all remain united and maintain the momentum in supporting Ukraine and increasing pressure on Russia, because that approach has already proven effective," Jetten said.

He also urged the OSCE and other international organizations to remain united and intensify pressure on Putin, adding that a strong signal should come from The Hague.

"We need European unity at every level, including within the OSCE, to maximize pressure on Putin and force Russia to end this war. We must show Putin that the only way forward is an immediate ceasefire and meaningful negotiations for a just and lasting peace. I urge you to send this strong signal from The Hague to Moscow," Jetten said.

He also called on Russia to release three OSCE staff members who are being illegally detained.

Ukraine calls for more pressure on Russia

Earlier this week, Russia launched attacks on the cities of Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and others. In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said greater international pressure on Russia is needed to stop such attacks.

"It is essential that our partners increase pressure on Russia to bring this terror to an end. Russia will certainly listen to the United States, the other G7 and G20 countries, as well as Europe," the president said.

He added that European countries have powerful tools to pressure Russia, including measures targeting its energy sector, shadow oil fleet, and financial system.
