Duda: West must force Putin to beg for peace talks
The West must use all possible measures to force the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, to beg for peace negotiations, the Polish President Andrzej Duda reports during the press conference in Davos.
"If we ask how to stimulate Putin to sit at the negotiating table for peace, the answer should be this: we must apply such measures to force Putin to beg for peace and beg for peace negotiations," Duda stated, emphasizing that he does not wish to "plead with Putin to come to the negotiating table."
President of Poland also expressed his support for NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s statement that the full-scale war in Ukraine is not a local but a global conflict, which, therefore, requires a global solution.
Russia-Ukraine negotiations
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a fair starting point for negotiations with Russia would be if the Russian troops return to the pre-full-scale invasion lines.
The President also noted that Chinese leader Xi Jinping could push Putin toward peace, given that Russia's economy heavily depends on China.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has threatened Russia with new tariffs, duties, and sanctions if the war against Ukraine does not end.
