Drones take priority: Zelenskyy holds meeting with military and Defense Ministry

Ukraine plans to strengthen the drone sector in the country’s defense strategy, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his evening address.
The President said the government plans to scale up domestic production of drones, including interceptors and long-range strike models.
"I held a meeting today with our military and the Minister of Defense. As for drones, there will be more domestic production," the President emphasized.
He noted that the meeting focused on current contracts, orders, and manufacturing capacity. Zelenskyy also said he plans to hold talks with international partners about new investments in Ukraine’s defense production sector.
"Priority goes to drones - interceptor drones and long-range strike drones. Of course, this is the frontline and everything our soldiers need at the front,” the President added.
Zelenskyy also thanked Ukrainian drone developers who are actively working on building interceptors. He stressed that these technologies are of critical importance, especially as Russia is also increasing the drone component of its attacks.
"Russia is planning to increase the number of drones used in strikes against our country. We are preparing our response," Zelenskyy concluded.
Drone production in Ukraine
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has significantly increased the production of both reconnaissance and strike drones. Domestic companies have developed the capability to manufacture long-range drones capable of striking targets inside Russian territory.
As previously stated by Deputy Defense Minister Oleksandr Kozenko, Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex is capable of producing up to 10 million drones annually.
Additionally, on June 24, it was announced that the United Kingdom will finance the production of Ukrainian-made drones.
