Drones strike Russian Volgograd, paralyzing airport traffic

Russians complained about a drone attack in Volgograd on June 19. The attack paralyzed the operation of the local airport, according to local Telegram channels.
The governor of the Volgograd region, Andrey Bocharov, stated that Russian forces allegedly repelled a massive attack in the Kalachyovsky and Gorodishchensky districts and in the southern part of Volgograd.
According to him, supposedly, there were no casualties or damage.
The attack paralyzed the operations of the airports in Volgograd and Kaluga. Temporary flight restrictions were introduced at night.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation claims that last night they allegedly shot down 81 Ukrainian drones: 19 over the territory of Bryansk region, 17 over Kursk, 13 over Smolensk, seven over Volgograd, six over Oryol, five over Rostov, five over the temporarily occupied Crimea, three each over Belgorod and Astrakhan regions, two over Ryazan region, and one over the Moscow region.
Attacks on the Volgograd oil refinery
In the Volgograd region there is an oil refinery which has been attacked repeatedly. Thus, on May 12, 2024, reports appeared online about an attack on the Volgograd oil refinery, where a fire broke out.
Also, according to RBC-Ukraine’s sources, in February 2025 drones of the SBU and Special Operations Forces attacked the Volgograd oil refinery and the Astrakhan gas processing plant.
At the plant in the Volgograd region, primary processing units were damaged. This refinery processes almost 6% of all oil in Russia.
