On the night of May 20, Ukrainian drones again attacked the Nevinnomysskiy Azot chemical complex in Russia's Stavropol Krai. A fire broke out in the city's industrial zone. This is the second attack on the facility in recent days; the first occurred on Saturday, May 16, according to OSINT channels and the Telegram channel of the mayor of Nevinnomyssk.

What is happening

A drone danger was announced throughout the Stavropol Krai the previous evening. Residents of Nevinnomyssk were urged to leave the streets and take shelter in rooms without windows.

At midnight, the internet was turned off in the city.

The head of Nevinnomyssk, Mikhail Minenkov, confirmed the attack, reporting an air defense battle and that the raid of enemy drones is targeting the city's industrial zone.

As of five o'clock in the morning, the attack was ongoing, and air defense systems were active in the locality. Residents reported a fire in the industrial zone.

Why this matters

Nevinnomysskiy Azot officially specializes in the production of fertilizers and household chemicals. However, according to OSINT analysts, the facility is actually working for the Russian military-industrial complex: the acetic acid produced here is sent to a plant in Dzerzhinsk, where it is used to make explosives for artillery shells.

RBC-Ukraine previously reported on the first drone attack on Nevinnomysskiy Azot on May 16. Ukrainian drone strikes deep into Russian territory are continuing with increasing intensity.

In recent days, the Defense Forces have attacked the Tamanneftegaz oil terminal in Krasnodar Krai — a fire broke out at the facility.

Additionally, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a massive strike on strategic targets in Russia — hitting an oil refinery in Yaroslavl, fuel depots, and air defense systems.
