Drones strike Gazprom petrochemical complex in Bashkiria

Drones successfully attacked Gazprom's petrochemical complex in Salavat, located approximately 1,500 km from the border with Ukraine. The plant is on fire, according to the head of the Bashkortostan administration, Radiy Khabirov.
“Two aircraft-type drones attacked the enterprise. There are no casualties or injuries,” he wrote.
According to him, the enterprise's security tried to open fire on the drones.
“We are assessing the extent of the damage. We are currently extinguishing the fire,” Khabirov said.
Head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council, Andrii Kovalenko, confirmed the strike was carried out by Ukraine's Special Operations Forces.
The Russian channel Astra has published videos from the scene of the attack, showing a large fire at the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat petrochemical complex.
Ukrainian drone strikes
In the summer of 2025, Ukraine resumed strikes on Russian oil refineries and oil pipelines after Russia violated an undeclared moratorium on mutual strikes on energy facilities in June.
According to Reuters calculations, the strikes disabled facilities that accounted for at least 17% of Russia's oil refining capacity, or 1.1 million barrels per day.
The strikes forced Moscow to increase oil exports from western ports in August by 200,000 barrels per day, or 11%. The additional volumes came from underutilized Russian refineries.
At the same time, a number of regions in Russia began to experience gasoline shortages, despite the ban on its export, which came into force on July 28. Repairing the damaged plants could take weeks or months, leading to fuel shortages in domestic and global markets ahead of winter.
Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is a Russian petrochemical company that owns one of Russia's largest oil refining and petrochemical production complexes, located in the city of Salavat (Republic of Bashkortostan).
