Drones attacked apartment building in Oryol region, Russia
In Russia, in the village of Zhylyna in the Oryol region, two drones attacked a 16-story apartment building, according to Russian Telegram channels.
According to Russian media, the first explosion occurred around 1:05 AM, followed by a second drone strike 5-7 minutes later at nearly the same location. The second explosion happened while firefighters were already at the scene.
Russian Telegram channels specify that the first drone struck the 13th floor, and the second hit the 15th floor.
Following the incident, Oryol region Governor Andrey Klychkov reported that since midnight, the region had faced a massive attack allegedly by Ukrainian drones. He stated that electronic warfare and air defense systems destroyed three drones, but two still hit the building.
"Two drones hit a residential building in the Bolkhovsky district. Emergency services are on site, the fire has been contained, and there are no casualties," the governor said.
It is noteworthy that when drones hit Russian oil refineries and other facilities, Russian officials officially claim that these are fragments. Authorities assert that Russian air defenses intercept everything with 100% success. However, in the case of the attack on the building, Russian officials now report that three out of five drones were intercepted.
It should be noted that on July 28, Ukrainian defenders struck the Polevaya oil depot in the Kursk region. As a result of the attack, firefighters were unable to extinguish the flames for over a day.
Previously, it was reported that in July, Ukraine launched more strike drones than Russia. Specifically, Russia deployed 426 Shahed-type drones, while Ukraine used over 520 drones during the same period. Ukrainian drones cause greater economic damage to Russia, as the Russian defenses are weak.
