On June 1, 2025, drones attacked four Russian airfields. Dozens of cruise missile carriers were destroyed or damaged, according to Ukrainian OSINT communities and monitoring channels.

On June 1, four Russian military airfields were targeted by drone attacks: Belyayevo, Dyagilevo, Olenya, and Ivanovo.

Particular attention in Ukraine focused on the damage to Belyayevo airfield, located over 4,500 kilometers from Ukraine’s border. This base recently hosted most of the Tu-95MS bombers that launched Kh-101 cruise missiles against Ukraine.

As of May 31, the Belyayevo airbase in the Irkutsk region housed:

  • 39 Tu-22M3

  • 30 MiG-31

  • 7 Tu-160

  • 6 Tu-95MS

  • 2 Il-78M

  • 6 An-26

  • 2 An-12

Eyewitnesses previously reported hearing over 10 explosions, and now satellite images reveal the scale of the destruction.

The image clearly shows that 3 Tu-95MS bombers were completely destroyed and one was damaged. Additionally, one Tu-22M3 was hit by a devastating strike.

SBU strikes Russian airfields

On June 1, 2025, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), together with other Defense Forces units, carried out a large-scale special operation called Spiderweb, targeting Russian military airfields hosting strategic bombers.

At least four military airfields in Russia were hit, located in the Irkutsk, Murmansk, Ryazan, and Ivanovo regions.
