Drone strike hits Russian Saratov, sparks fire by oil refinery

On the night of August 10, unknown drones attacked Russia’s Saratov region. Residents reported explosions and a fire in the regional center near the oil refinery, according to Russian Telegram channels.
According to SHOT, around eight explosions were heard over Saratov and Engels during the night. Russians claim that air defense systems were active, and flashes were seen in the sky.
Residents said smoke was visible over one of the districts after the attack. Meanwhile, footage of the fire began circulating on social media, reportedly showing flames near the oil refinery area.
Ahead of the explosions, temporary restrictions were imposed on the arrival and departure of flights at Saratov airport.
Additionally, the region’s governor, Roman Busargin, warned of a potential drone attack. He advised that warning systems might be activated in areas of possible threat.
Russian social media pages reported sounds of explosions in Voronezh and Lipetsk, though details have not yet been confirmed.
Attacks on Russia
On the night of August 7, the Krasnodar region of Russia came under attack by unknown drones. At that time, Russians reported strikes on an oil refinery and a military facility in the region.
In the morning, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed that Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Afipsky oil refinery. As a result of the drone strikes, a technological unit for processing gas and gas condensate caught fire.
The General Staff also clarified that several other important facilities were targeted during the attacks.
